Local etiquette
Bangladesh is a hierarchical country; respect for elders and people in higher positions is valued. Men and women should avoid direct physical contact when greeting. Avoid discussions about politics and religion. Communication among locals is guided by openness and the need to save face, although you should always expect personal questions about who you are and your educational background. It is a faux pas to have your legs and shoulders uncovered as an adult, irrespective of your gender.
Seasons
Unlike most countries with six seasons, Bangladesh has 6 seasons.
Grisma: This is the summer season, which lasts from March to May. The weather gets warmer each day, and the soil turns dusty. It is also the season of fruits as most seasonal fruits ripen during this period.
Barsa is the rainy season, also known as the monsoon season. About 80% of Bangladesh's rain falls during this season, which falls in the Bengali month of Ashar-Shrabon.
Sarat: The autumn season. The sky becomes clearer and there are not many clouds. It is usually in the Bengali month Bhadra-Ashwin
Hemanta: The late autumn season, also known as the dry season. Waters starts to dry off and there are dusts all around. This season falls in the Bengali month Kartik-Agrohayon
Shitt: The winter season in the Bengali month of Poush-Magh is usually cold. During this period, people move around in blankets.
Basanto: The spring season, which lasts from mid-February to mid-April and falls in the Bengali month of Falgun-Chaitra is described as the king of all seasons as the weather is moderate.
Travel cost
Bangladesh is a budget-friendly destination. Budget travellers can expect to spend $20–40 daily, covering guesthouses, local meals, and public transport. Mid-range travellers may budget $50–100 daily for boutique accommodations, guided tours, and better dining options. Luxury travellers, enjoying high-end hotels and private tours, should expect costs exceeding $200 daily.
