Luxembourg is bordered by Belgium, Germany, and France. Its capital, Luxembourg City, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its fortified medieval old town and vibrant cultural scene. With a strong emphasis on education, innovation, and sustainability, Luxembourg prides itself on being a progressive and forward-thinking nation. As one of the wealthiest countries in the world, the country is renowned for its high standard of living, efficient public services, and multicultural population.
The population is approximately 650,000 and operates on Central European Time (GMT+1), with daylight saving time observed from late March to late October.
Wine and cuisine
Luxembourg’s cuisine reflects its multicultural influences, blending French finesse and German heartiness. Judd mat Gaardebounen, smoked pork collar with broad beans is a traditional dish. Other favourites include kniddelen, dumplings; bouneschlupp, green bean soup; and pastries like quetschentaart, and plum tart.
The Moselle Valley is renowned for its white wines, particularly Riesling, Pinot Gris, and sparkling Crémant de Luxembourg. The region’s vineyards are perfect for wine tastings and tours.
Outdoor activities
Luxembourg offers a wealth of outdoor adventures thanks to its varied landscape. The Mullerthal Region, known as "Little Switzerland," features scenic hiking trails through rocky formations and forests. In the Esch-sur-Sûre area, visitors can enjoy canoeing and fishing. Cyclists can explore picturesque routes like the Moselle Wine Route, while the Ardennes region provides excellent cross-country skiing in winter.
Several parts of Luxembourg City are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, so you can consider a sightseeing tour to these interesting places.
Nature
Luxembourg features diverse landscapes, including the Ardennes hills in the north and the Moselle Valley vineyards in the east. Notable destinations include the wildlife-rich Upper-Sûre Nature Park and the scenic Mullerthal Trail, known for its picturesque hiking routes.

Luxembourg hosts various festivals that showcase its rich traditions and lively cultural scene. Notable events include the International Bazaar in November, the Echternach Dancing Procession in May, and the Luxembourg City Film Festival in February. Additionally, during the holiday season, Christmas markets throughout Luxembourg City and other towns create a warm and festive atmosphere.
